A BIG wind storm blew through BC on Monday. It was frightening in its ferocity. If it had been -20C and on the prairies, it would have been a blizzard. If it had been on the ocean it might not have been a hurricane but it still would have been scary.
It blew down a big tree and knocked out the hydro line on our street. The pole in the right forefront supports the connector line to our place and neighbour Kelly.
The lines diagonal across the photo are our lines. The tree landed in Darren's yard but they didn't have any vehicles parked there at the moment. Bet he's glad of that.
Believe it or not, they got this pole back to 90 degrees and set in solid.
Conifers have shallow roots. You'd think there would be more root for the size of this tree. (Photo looking south down our street towards Hwy 97 and Tuktakamin Mtn.)
The BC Hydro crew were real troupers. Conditions were miserable - driving sleet, flying debris and all. The line went out shortly after noon and service was restored just before 9pm.
